Duty Manager (Part-Time, 32 Hours per Week)

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Duty Manager to join our Front Office team on a part-time basis (32 hours per week). This is an opportunity to be part of a proudly independent New Zealand-owned luxury hotel that celebrates exceptional service, sustainability, culture, and community.

As Duty Manager, you will be a key leader within our Front Office team, ensuring seamless hotel operations while delivering genuine and personalised guest service. You will lead by example, support and develop team members, and take ownership of the guest journey from arrival through to departure.This role works across a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading daily hotel operations and supporting Front Office team members
- Delivering exceptional guest experiences and resolving guest concerns with confidence and professionalism
- Coordinating daily arrivals, departures and guest requests
- Conducting team briefings and maintaining clear communication across departments
- Supporting team training, coaching and development
- Assisting with rostering and operational planning
- Maintaining high standards of presentation, service and compliance
- Acting as a trusted point of contact for guests, team members and stakeholders throughout your shift
- Ensuring guest safety, privacy and security standards are maintained at all times
What We're Looking For
You are an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys leading a team while remaining hands-on in operations.Ideally, you'll bring:
- Previous experience in a Duty Manager, Front Office Supervisor or similar hotel leadership role
- Strong passion for guest service and creating memorable experiences
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Proven ability to remain calm and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills
- Experience leading, coaching and motivating teams
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
- A current driver's licence
- Valid New Zealand working rights
- A current Manager's Certificate/RSA or the ability to obtain one (preferred)
