The Hotel Britomart is New Zealand's first 5 Green Star hotel and a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Located in the heart of Auckland's vibrant waterfront precinct, we're known for exceptional guest experiences, thoughtful hospitality and beautifully maintained spaces.

We're looking for a practical, reliable and hands-on Maintenance Handyperson to join our team on a permanent part-time basis (16 hours per week).

What you'll be doing

You'll play an important role in maintaining our guestrooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces to the high standards our guests expect.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preventative maintenance inspections and repairs
• Painting and touch-up work
• Minor plumbing and general building repairs
• Furniture, door and lock repairs
• Replacing light fittings and bulbs
• Supporting basic AV and guestroom equipment troubleshooting
• Maintaining maintenance records and reporting issues
• Assisting with contractor coordination and site access
• Conducting safety inspections and reporting hazards
• Supporting sustainability initiatives through proactive maintenance and asset care

You'll be someone who enjoys variety, works well independently and can identify and resolve maintenance issues before they become bigger problems.

Essential:

• Previous experience in hotel, facilities or general maintenance
• Strong practical skills across painting, building maintenance and minor repairs
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

   

  Excellent attention to detail and pride in your work

• Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual tasks
•  Strong communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude

• Trade qualification or maintenance certification
• First Aid Certificate
• Experience in a hotel, apartment, retirement village or commercial property environment
• Experience using maintenance management systems
