We're looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Porter to join our Front Office team on a part-time basis (16 to 30 hours per week).
About the Role
As a Porter in our Front Office team, you’ll be a key part of creating a seamless, welcoming guest experience from the moment they arrive. Your calm, friendly service, attention to detail, and confidence handling guest needs will help ensure our guests feel truly cared for throughout their stay.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Assisting guests with their luggage, delivery of guest messages and any other special requirements that they may have (within reason).
- Ensuring that individual guests, groups, and customers are welcomed warmly, greeted by name wherever possible, and are efficiently guided through what the hotel has to offer in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Being responsible for the safe handling and storage of all guest luggage.
- Ensuring all group luggage is correctly tagged and delivered correctly and efficiently to and from the rooms.
- Performing valet parking duties as directed.
- Ensuring the guest cars are parked safely, without damage, handled correctly and all car keys are kept secure.
- Assisting guests with special requests, general information, transportation, event tickets, restaurant, airline reservations and any other reasonable requests as they arise.
- Maintaining accurate information and records including the correct guest details and linking guest profiles.
- Monitoring and maintain the dispatch and delivery of guest laundry, dry cleaning, and parcels.
- Delivering cots and rollaway beds as required.
- Attending to minor maintenance requirements when the maintenance person is not on duty.
- Conducting regular security checks of the hotel, both externally and internally when directed.
- Taking room service orders and make room service deliveries. Collect room service trays. Ensure guest service dockets are signed and stored appropriately.
- Ensuring the orderly and clutter free appearance of the concierge/front desk area and assist in maintaining the immaculate physical appearance of all hotel public areas.
- Performing any other reasonable task or instruction as directed by management or a representative of management.
- Understanding The Hotel Britomart Work Health and Safety policies and procedures and abiding by them at all times.
What we are looking for:
- Have experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment (hospitality experience is preferred)
- Flexibility - you are required to be available for rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Strong communication skills- You will be building working relationships with people across the hotel team and interacting with guests.
- Eye for detail coupled with a strong ability to proactively identify, prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and successfully accomplish objectives in a busy and challenging workplace.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full driving license with the ability to drive a manual, automatic and electric vehicle is mandatory.
- Valid New Zealand working right essential.
