Senior Housekeeping Supervisor

About the Role
Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager, the Senior Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for the efficient and effective running of the housekeeping department. This is a hands-on role, requiring an individual who leads by example and actively supports the housekeeping team. Working with the team to ensure an exemplary degree of cleanliness in all areas of the hotel, maximising efficiency and demonstrating professionalism and exceptional standards.
This is a full-time, permanent position with a minimum of 40 hours guaranteed per week. Work is on a rotating roster (5 days out of 7), including weekends and public holidays. Pay rate for this role is between $30-32 per hour dependant on skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities

are not limited to:
- Assist with rostering and personnel requirements of the housekeeping department daily including recruitment, performance reviews, management, and development of all team members
- Be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and supervision of team members in the department by setting a positive example.
- Coordinate and allocate shift duties and run daily briefings to ensure efficient operations and adherence to company policies, while keeping the team informed on hotel activities, guest feedback, and product knowledge.
- Inspect rooms to ensure they are cleaned to the required standard and ensure the rooms are released to front office in a timely manner.
- Ensure all team members follow standard operating procedures and that grooming, and presentation of team members is maintained
- Ensure housekeeping trolleys, equipment, storerooms, and chemical rooms are maintained
- Ensure all maintenance and H&S issues are reported
- Ensure guests special requests are carried out and examine guest rooms and suites prior to the guests' arrival
- Ensure all guest complaints and feedback are dealt with in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Liaise with Front Office and F&B to ensure guest expectations are consistently met or where possible exceeded
- Responsible for answering phones and coordinating guest requests with the Room
- Attendants, House person, and Public Area Attendants
- Conduct a communication logbook/diary to list daily communications to ensure all communications are dealt with in a timely manner
- Ensure all priority and arrival rooms are ready in a timely manner
- Ensure rooms required for check in are available for guests by 2pm
- Inventories stock carried out to ensure adequate supplies
- Have full understanding of emergency procedures and ensure H&S requirements are met within the department
- Demonstrate proper manual handling when fulfilling physical requirements in the role
About You
- Previous minimum experience of 2 years in a supervisory housekeeping role, preferably within a 5 star hotel environment
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge and prior experience in PMS Protel or similar
- Relevant Hospitality qualification advantageous
- Valid New Zealand working rights.
