About The Landing Wines
The Landing Wines is located in the Bay of Islands, and is a boutique, sustainably managed vineyard and acclaimed winery producing award-winning, small-batch wines. The vineyard, first established in 2007 and recently expanded to a total planted area of 13.5 hectares, primarily produces Chardonnay and Syrah, although smaller volumes of other varieties mean we produce a wide portfolio of 100% estate grown wines.
The Landing’s vineyards form a core part of a 400-hectare world-class coastal destination which also offers luxury accommodation, heritage conservation, ecological restoration and elevated food and wine experiences.
Role Summary
The Tasting Room Host is responsible for offering high quality, personalized wine experiences This role is ideal for a warm, confident individual who enjoys working with people and takes pride in delivering exceptional experiences. This role suits someone who thrives in a hands-on hospitality environment, with an interest in wine offerings and a natural ability to make guests feel welcome.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests and host guided wine tastings in a professional, knowledgeable and engaging manner.
- Deliver attentive, guest-focused service that creates a relaxed, memorable and high-quality experience.
- Confidently share the story of The Landing Wines, the vineyard and the wider property, with training provided.
- Support food and wine service, ensuring presentation and delivery standards are consistently maintained.
- Ensure food service, clearing, dishwashing and daily tasting room presentation to maintain high service standards.
- Support wine sales, point-of-sale transactions, guest wine enquiries and help pack and dispatch orders as required in a helpful and professional manner.
- Consistently follow responsible service of alcohol requirements and relevant operating procedures.
- Build constructive working relationships with the vineyard team and provide operational support where required.
- Responsible for the set up of the tasting room and outdoor areas for guests.
- Complete end-of-day tasting room close-down procedures.
- Anything else that may reasonably be requested of you by the Tasting Room Manager.
Essential skills and experience
- A warm, confident and guest-focused approach, with a genuine interest in hospitality and wine.
- Previous hospitality, retail or customer service experience is helpful, but not essential.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to create a welcoming experience for guests.
- Reliable, well-presented and comfortable working in a hands-on service environment.
- Able to work weekends, public holidays and rostered shifts as required.
- Collaborative, communicative and aligned with The Landing’s values.
- A strong eye for detail and pride in creating a polished, welcoming guest experience.
- A Duty Manager’s certificate is essential for the role and can be obtained during training.
- Valid New Zealand work rights are essential.
