We are seeking capable and experienced professionals to join The Hotel Britomart in the position of a Wine Programme Specialist/Sommelier. The role requires curating an exceptional beverage list for both The Libraries and Kingi. You will lead the training and development of the Food & Beverage team, sharing their expertise to build confidence and knowledge in wine service. The role is also responsible for driving increased beverage sales, with a particular focus on wines, leveraging their expertise to enhance guest experiences. Using The Hotel Britomart service philosophies, you are expected to strive and ensure each guest interaction is memorable. Essential personal attributes include a positive mindset, team-player approach, can-do attitude, strong communication skills, and leadership qualities.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Overall curating and managing the wine and beverage program.
  • Team leadership and training

  • Compliance and safety

More about you:

  • A current Managers Certificate and Liquor Licence.
  • Sommelier qualification.
  • A degree or diploma in Hotel or Hospitality Management would be preferred but is not essential.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a 5-star hotel environment in a similar role.
  • Proven experience managing teams and F&B operations for events.
  • Strong knowledge of food & beverage, coffee, wine, and cocktails.
  • Confident public speaker with experience leading tastings or events.
  • Sales-driven with a proven ability to increase beverage revenue.
  • Sound understanding of sequence of service and the hospitality/tourism industry.
  • Knowledge of Point-of-Sale systems.
